Multitasking(Non-Technical) Staff Examination-ssc mts

MTS Introduction 2018: The Staff Selection Commission conducts a Multitasking (Non-Technical) Staff Examination SSC mts for selecting staff for various Group C and D posts in different ministries/ departments/ organizations of the Indian Government. The examination is conducted in 2 Tiers, First the preliminary examination, Second the main examination. Only the candidates qualifying the preliminary examination are allowed to sit for the Main Examination, which is followed by a Descriptive Paper which can be attempted in Hindi or English.

MTS Exam Notification2018: The Staff Selection Commission will soon be issuing notification for Multitasking (Non-Technical) Staff Examination 2017-18. The notification is released in December every year. It has complete details about the exam date, last date to apply, age limit, eligibility criteria, vacancies, etc.  Online submission of the form can be done through the official website. The exam will be conducted between April-May’2018.

MTS Admit Cards : Once the online forms have been accepted by the Staff Selection Commission, the Admit Cards of Tier-I Exam will be released online, 2-3 weeks before the commencement of the exam. One needs to check the website regularly in order to stay updated.

Exam Centres: A candidate has to mention his/her preferred center at the time of filling the form. In most of the cases, the candidates are allocated the center of their choice; however under some situations when the number of candidates is in excess, then SSC may sometimes allot centers other than the preferred centre.

Exam Dates: The exam will be conducted in April-May’2018 at various centres across the country. The selected candidates will be allowed to sit in the Tier-II (Descriptive) Exam. The date of descriptive paper will be announced in due course.

MTS Qualification

The qualification required for SSC Multitasking (Non-Technical) Staff Examination is 10th pass or an equivalent degree in from a recognized university at the time of applying. Anything below Matriculation will not be considered by the Staff Selection Commission. Such candidates will not be allowed to give the exam.

Age Limit

  • The candidates appearing for the Staff Selection Commission Multitasking (Non-Technical) Staff Examination must be between 18 to 25 years of age as on 01 Aug’2018.
  • The candidate must be born between the dates 02 Aug’1992 and 01 Aug’1999.
  • An age relaxation of 5 to 15 years has been provided to SC/ST/OBC/PH/Ex-Serviceman.

MTS Citizenship

A candidate must be either:

(a) a citizen of India, or

(b) a subject of Nepal, or

(c) a subject of Bhutan, or

(d) a Tibetan refugee who has settled permanently in India before 01  Jan’1962, or

(e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania , Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.


The various posts for which SSC Multitasking (Non-Technical) Staff Examination is conducted are as follows:

  • Group B posts: Manager Grade-II,
  • Group C Posts: Halwai cum Cook,

(iii)         Group D Posts:  Peon, daftary, Jamadar, Junior Gestetner Operator, farash, chowkidar, safaiwala etc.

The candidates are recruited for different posts in various departments/ ministries/ organizations under the Government of India.


  • The candidates applying for the post of Multitasking (Non-Technical) Staff Examination are required to appear for an objective type written paper of 150 marks.
  • The written paper consists of 4 sections for the post of Multitasking (Non-Technical) Staff Examination:
  • General Intelligence and Reasoning: Similarities and differences, space visualization, problem-solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relationship concepts, figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series etc.


  • Numerical Aptitude: Number Systems, Computation of Whole Numbers, Decimals and Fractions and relationship between Numbers, Fundamental arithmetical operations, Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Averages, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, use of Tables and Graphs, Mensuration, Time and Distance, Ratio and Time, Time and Work, etc


  • General English: Vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and its correct usage, etc.
  • General Awareness: India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic scene, General Polity including Indian Constitution, and Scientific Research, matters of everyday observation, general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society, etc.
  • There’s a negative marking of 0.25 marks in all the 4 sections.
  • The candidates who clear the written paper will have to appear for a descriptive paper of 50 marks.

  • Paper-II will be descriptive in which the candidate will be required to write short essay/letter in English or any language.

Cut off List

  • The cut off is decided on the basis of:
  1. number of candidates appearing in the exam,
  2. difficulty level of the exam,
  3. number of seats.
  • The category wise cut off list is also released by the Commission.
