Sub Inspector in CPOs Exam

Introduction: The Staff Selection Commission conducts a Sub Inspector in CPOs Exam for selecting staff for various Sub Inspectors and Assistant Sub Inspector in different ministries/ departments/ organizations of the Indian Government. The examination is conducted in 3 Tiers, Paper-1, Physical Standard Test (PST)/ Physical Endurance Test (PET) and Ppaer-2. Only the candidates qualifying the preliminary examination are allowed to sit in the Main Examination.

Exam Notification: The Staff Selection Commission has issued the notification for the Sub Inspector In CPOs Exam 2017-18. The notification is released in April’2017. It has complete details about the exam date, last date to apply, age limit, eligibility criteria, vacancies, etc.  Online submission of the form can be done through the official website. The Tier-1 exam will be conducted in June-July’2017.

Admit Cards: Once the online forms have been accepted by the Staff Selection Commission, the Admit Cards of Tier-I Exam will be released online, 2-3 weeks before the commencement of the exam. One needs to check the website regularly in order to stay updated.

Exam Centres: A candidate has to mention his/her preferred centre at the time of filling the form. In most of the cases, the candidates are allocated the centre of their choice; however under some situations when the number of candidates is in excess, then SSC may sometimes allot centres other than the preferred centre.

Exam Dates: The exam will be conducted in June-July’2017 at various centres across the country. The selected candidates will be allowed to sit in the Tier-II Exam which will be conducted in October’2017 after passing the PST. The last date for applying is 15 April’2017.

Qualification

The qualification required for SSC Sub Inspector In CPOs Exam is bachelors or an equivalent degree in any discipline from a recognized university at the time of applying. Anything below graduation will not be considered by the Staff Selection Commission. Such candidates will not be allowed to give the exam.

Age Limit

  • The candidates appearing for the Staff Selection Commission Sub Inspector In CPOs Exam must be between 20 to 25 years of age.
  • Considerable relaxation is provided wherever applicable(SC/ST/OBC/PH/Ex-Serviceman)

Citizenship

A candidate must be either:

(a) a citizen of India, or

(b) a subject of Nepal, or

(c) a subject of Bhutan, or

(d) a Tibetan refugee who has settled permanently in India before 01  Jan’1962, or

(e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania ,Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Syllabus

PAPER-1:

  • All the candidates applying for the SSC Sub Inspector In CPOs Exam have to appear for Paper-1.
  • It is an objective type paper.
  • It comprises of the following 4 sections:
  1. General Intelligence & Reasoning
  2. General Knowledge & Awareness
  3. Quantitative Aptitude
  4. English Comprehension
  • Each section consists of 50 questions of 50 marks each.
  • The total duration of Paper-1 is 2 hours.
  • There’s a negative marking of 0.25 for every incorrect answer.

PET/ PST:

  • For Male Candidates:
  1. Height: 170 cms
  2. Chest (Unexpanded): 80cms
  3. Chest (Expanded): 85cms
  4. Weight: Corresponding to height
  5. Vision: minimum distant vision should be 6/6 and 6/9 of 2 eyes without correction
  6. Race: 100 meters in 16 sec
  7. Race: 1.6 Kms in 6.5 min
  8. Long Jump: 3.65 meters in 3 chances
  9. High Jump: 1.2 meters in 3 chances
  10. Shot Put (16 Lbs): 4.5 meters in 3 chances
  • For Female Candidates:
  1. Height: 157 cms
  2. Weight: Corresponding to height
  3. Vision: The minimum distant vision should be 6/6 and 6/9 of 2 eyes without correction.
  4. Race: 100 meters in 16 sec
  5. Race: 400 meters in 4 minutes
  6. Long Jump: 2.7 meters (9 feet) in 3 chances
  7. High Jump: 0.9 meters (3 feet) in 3 chances

PAPER-2:

  • The candidates who clear the PST/ PET after Paper-1 are eligible to sit for Paper-2.
  • It is an objective type paper.
  • Subject covered: English Language and Comprehension
  • There are 200 questions of 200 marks.
  • The total duration of Paper-1 is 2 hours.
  • There’s a negative marking of 0.25 for every incorrect answer.

Cut off List/Result

  • The cut off is decided on the basis of:
  1. number of candidates appearing in the exam,
  2. difficulty level of the exam,
  3. number of seats.
  • The category wise cut off list is also released by the Commission.
